Meet professional skills coach and pro racer Gene Hamilton and other local mountain bikers to discuss and learn mountain biking skills. Riding a bike is easy. Riding over off-camber roots and rocks and cornering with confidence is more difficult. Whether you have been riding for twenty years, race professionally or just started riding there is a lot to learn as the correct techniques are not intuitive. That is why Gene has created a better way to learn the core skills of mountain biking. For ov …

Welcome to our tribe! We are a range of riders from first treads to hammerheads, and from kids to those who will never grow up. We believe that all trails in life should flow, roots and boulders add character to the ride, every journey could be an epic one, and a little sweat on the ascent will blow off as the rubber takes flight from the dirt. Just follow the safety rules, be courteous, show up for rides you responded "yes" to, and have fun.

I wanted to start up a leisurely bike riding group, around 10-12 mph pace that starts in the mid-afternoon, for those who aren't early risers. Helments are opptional; I don't wear one. All rides will start and finish on Portland's eastside. This is not a gung-ho riding group like the Wheelmen. You can show up in jeans and a t-shirt and you will fit right in! I do not consider myself the 'leader' per se; just an organizer. Group input is welcome too; to suggest an area that you would like to ride …

The occasional weekday meetup would be a little more low key and local and may include dining at one of the many foot cart pods or local breweries. Ideas are open to suggestio …

… Perhaps even our spouses could get involved once and a while, so we mammas could go for a mountain bike ride alone while the pappas hang back and keep an eye on the little ones. How cool would it be to take turns learning how to kiteboard? What else have you put on hold to hang out with your amazing little person? What if we could have it all? What if our little people could see us enriching our lives, too?!? How great would it be to regain our pre-baby bodies, have fun, and include our little o …
The family-friendly Portland Chapter of the Oregon Nordic Club began in 1968 to promote the values of cross country skiing. Since then, we've grown into a group of friends who telemark, hike, camp, paddle and bike on monthly outings. We love spending outdoor time together in the Northwest forests, mountains, and in-town -- year-round! We are family friendly. A growing group of parents and kids (of all ages) meet to ski, hike and bike. In the past, we've hosted one-day x-country ski lessons and …
